COLLECTIVE GEOLOGY OF THE ERASED SPACE

Collective Geology of the Erased Space
LAUNCH PROJECT
Collective Geology of the Erased Space is a 2004 commission of New Radio and Performing Arts, Inc., (aka Ether-Ore) for its Turbulence web site. It was made possible with funding from the National Endowment for the Arts.

In this work, viewers are presented with an imaginary strata formed from those lost spaces between sites, machines, addresses and links as if they had collapsed upon themselves. This strata is imbued with fragments of conversations, recollections, errant sounds and pregnant silences as if the memory of communication had imparted itself on the strata in some way. Stretched thin like the surface of a balloon, underneath the razor sharp cursor these sounds whistle like a fingernail across the surface of a drum-head.

Requirement: You need the Shockwave Plugin to view this project. If you need the plugin, it can be downloaded here. Also, please keep in mind that you may experience less than optimal performance issues if there are other programs running. On PC a 1GHZ+ processor is recommended, on Mac a 800MHZ+ processor is recommended.
General Note: It is recommended that you use a trackpad, rather than a mouse to interact with this piece if one is available. I mention this because using a trackpad enhances the intimacy and pacing in a way which more accurately communicates my intentions for your experience with this piece.
