Inside the monument is a transformer and electricity sub-station for the Northern line of London's Underground train network, which runs through Elephant. This recording was made in early December 2007 by attaching a contact mic to the monument. The four bells heard in these recordings were cast in 1855 by the Veleganovi brothers, who inscribed the name of the Turkish sultan on them so that they would not be thrown from the tower. In London, people gathered in Parliament Square in the afternoon, shouting slogans at the Houses of Parliament that Guy Fawkes tried to blow up centuries earlier. At a certain point you can ear a very strange single bell toll.&lt;br&gt;
It came from the main belltown without resonating in the environment because it was expressly blocked.
