Live Interfaces is an international conference on research and practice in live performance technology. sound.jpgDeconstructing the Soundtrack :: A seminar series in association with the London Film School :: With Larry Sider, Annabelle Pangborn and Stephen Deutsch :: Saturday-Sunday, May 26-27, 2012 :: London Film School, Covent Garden, London ::

Building on the success of recent sound courses, these seminars are aimed at those working in screen-based media, and offer three integrated perspectives on the use of sound and music in filmmaking.

Larry Sider, Annabelle Pangborn and Stephen Deutsch will each deliver a half-day seminar demonstrating the interrelationship between sound, music, image and story. The programme will include a discussion of strategies and concepts for working with sound and music, from pre- to post-production. Continue reading

Live Stage: Sonifying Wireless Data [us New York, NY]

mario1.jpgHarvestworks is offering a very unique and special class February 25, 2012 at 12:00 pm and February 26, 2012 at 2:00 p.m. :: Sonifying Wireless Data: Snuff Workshop with media artists Mario DeVega and Victor Mazon :: The workshop is 8 hours :: Maximum of 15 students.

Mario DeVega and Victor Mazon have been developing a special device that amplifies wireless internet traffic, bluetooth data transfer, mobile phones, microwaves and other devices with electromagnetic activity in the 2.4 GHz range. During two sessions on Saturday/Sunday (Feb 25/26) their Sonifying Wireless Data: Snuff Workshop will allow students to construct and experiment with a portable device able to amplify and de-modulate frequency ranges between 0.1 to 2.4 GHz. They will also discuss in detail the philosophy behind it.
