Supersonix is an interdisciplinary exploration of sound through critical theory, experiment, and performance.

A partnership between the Exhibition Road Cultural Group and the Society for Literature, Science and the Arts Europe (SLSA EU), the three-day conference is aimed at anyone from the arts, curatorial studies, the sciences, humanities, and social sciences who is interested in an interdisciplinary approach to the study of sound and sonification.

The conference is underpinned by a range of artists’ performances and panels on collaborations between the arts, sciences, technology, and design. With an international line-up of keynote speakers and delegates from Australia, Europe, and North America already confirmed, Supersonix is a unique opportunity to join a global sonic conversation.

Conference Programme : Key strands include Sound, Noise & History; Listening; Sound & Voice; Sound & Body; Sound & Space.

Film Programme: Artist Aura Satz curates a selection of films which share an attention and sensitivity to the materiality of sound and sound-making technologies, devices, and instruments. Alongside her own films she will screen films by Manon de Boer, Jayne Parker, and Luke Fowler. Films will be shown throughout the conference at a specially created pop-up cinema at auction house Christie’s South Kensington.

Evening performances: Live sound art performances by three leading sound artists: Norway’s Jana Winderen and the UK’s Mira Calix and Kaffe Matthews, Friday 22 June, 19:30–22, First Floor Gallery space, Science Museum. This event is exclusive to Supersonix conference delegates.

Free evening lecture: The opening lecture will be held by Sha Xin Wei, Research Director of Topology media lab, Concordia University, Montreal,18:30–20, Imperial College, G16 lecture theatre. The lecture is free. All welcome!
