DAW is concerned with the application of digital technology in the arts. Consisting of symposia, workshops and performances, the Digital Art Weeks programme offers insight into current research and innovations in art and technology as well as illustrates resulting synergies in an exhibition and a series of performances during the Festival each year, making artists aware of impulses in technology and scientists aware of the possibilities of application of technology in the arts.

The Digital Art Weeks programme for Xian, China will continue its focus on innovation in the presentation of scientific and artistic research within the context of cultural exchange with the goal of mutual enrichment and knowledge transfer. Included in the activities are an academically-orientated conference, several new media art exhibitions and several festival events, which join parallel departments of partner institutes in Europe, North America and Asia to expand transdisciplinary research generally, and to nurture cooperation on the academic levels in the areas of arts and science of participating institutes.
