Live Stage: Time Lapse Live [ch Biel]

n349496926075_378.jpgTime Lapse Live — laptop poetics to pop beat performances featuring Tim Loosli, Art Clay, Danier Werder, & Valentina Vuksic :: March 27, 2010; 5:00 - 10:30 pm :: Centre PasquArt, Lokal-int, Seevorstadt 71-75, Aarbergstrasse 84, Biel, Switzerland.

Le Mariage, Art Clay :: A performance for two Swiss music boxes and six meter punch cards :: Performers: Art Clay & Valentina Vuksic– A performative work for two music boxes and two performers inspired by musically by “La Mariee mise a nu par ses celibataires meme” from Marcel Duchamp. The long cards that are fed into the music boxes are six-meter long punch cards. They meet at the center of the table and entwine together over time to form a sculptural metaphor of a „marriage“ between two. The cards are also encoded to play the back music over the music boxes. Here, the space between the tone(s) is even and determined only by tempo of the turning of the cranks of the music boxes by the performers. The (de) synchronization between the two voices creates shifting rhythmic patterns, which modulate slowly over time, giving strange reversed patterns and echoes of harmony throughout the piece. Together, the entwining paper sculpture, the music and the tension of the performers as they create the work brings about a uniquely balanced work between all three genre.

Surreance, Art Clay (tentative) :: A performance for two Performers and a Medium :: Performers: Art Clay, Valentina Vuksic & Guests from the Audience — ‘Surreance’ focuses on the relationship between media art and the mediumistic, or between the rational and the irrational. The performance is carried out by two ‘mediumistic’ performers, who bring the material world and the spiritual together by the occultist practice of a table séance in a quest for the ‘marvelous’ through a kind of ‘tuning’ of the mind. The audience experiences the performance activities visually and aurally as a channel to the energy fields of bygone surrealist manifests in a soundscape of haphazard radio modulation and the projection of a multi-faceted world of images. The performers interact with each other by using an occultist instrument to accomplish a task of “unveiling” in which a group photo of the surrealists, digitally blackened out. are brought forth as the performers ‘scratch’ the photos open into the present. Similar to a ouija board, the final images always result from the performer’s subconscious movements with the controller.

Tripping Through Runtime, Valentina Vuksic :: A software composition for computers and the magnetic spheres of laptop motherboards :: Performer: Valentina Vuksic — „Tripping Through Runtime“ is a long-term study, diving into the invisible interrelationships of hard and soft computer matters by sensual means. Provoking and detecting specific behavior of individual computer components in match with adequate software pieces. A collection of elderly laptops, examined via magnetic pickup microphones, transforms the magnetic waves around the electronic parts of the computers. Just plugging the power in or just booting up the operating system reveals a universe of sounds letting the listener sensually experience the computer in a new way.

We Love Machines: Samples & Beats Performance :: Performers: Daniel Werder & Timo Loosli — Timo Loosli together with friend Daniel Werder form the pop music duo „We Love Machines“. Their musical output is less orientated around guitar licks and drumming, more through the combo of samples and electronic. A touch of Daft Punk and Justice can be heard in the mix…
