Ichiigai (“not one”) is an experimental audio-art collective which has been exploring a fusion of sound, music, video and art since 2004. Ichiigai is also an artist-run label based in and supported by the State University for Arts and Design (HFG) and the Center for Art and Media (ZKM) in Karlsruhe, Germany.

Eleven artists from the collective will visit New York City for three performances between 24–31 August 2009. Show concepts have been hand-crafted to suit the venues. At stake: the role and categorization of entertainment, the value of seriousness, multi-media, improvisation, technique, presence, temporality, and sensibility … in general, and in music and art. ISSUE PROJECT ROOM: ichiigai, the German label for experimental audio and visual art, will kick off the open jams series Share with a one hour performance that will take you to the edge of improvisation, composition, interactivity, and communication. The collective will perform as a whole, mixing in solos, the audience and the project environment in the process. Sunday, 30 August 2009, 8:00-9:00 PM. at Issue Project Room, 232 3rd St, Brooklyn. MONKEY TOWN:The final show of the supreme audio art collective ichiigai. The audience will be submerged in a barrage of sonic sophistication as the collective members wrangle a pack of four projectors and half a dozen active speakers. Over two hours of high quality audio and video experiments ranging from cognizant reflections on Dasein, to noisy confrontations of your conceptions.
