laugarvatn_thorpid4.jpgGullkistan residency for creative people, at Laugarvatn, Iceland will welcome its first guests on June 1st 2009. The residency will provide artists, scholars, writers and other creative professionals with a unique opportunity to stay and work in the beautiful and peaceful atmosphere of Laugarvatn. Accommodation will be provided in new apartment buildings with all necessary facilities. Common work places will be provided nearby where guests will have the opportunity to meet other guests, exchange ideas and possibly cooperate.

The Laugarvatn settlement has a long tradition as a popular summer resort for people who want to relax and renew their creative energy. Being the main service area for the many surrounding summer cottages and servicing the several hundred students who stay there during the winter, Laugarvatn has what you need to make your stay comfortable.

The residency program is open to professionally established artists of all professions and academics of all professions. It is possible to apply for 2 weeks minimum stay, from Monday to Sunday.

Due to short notice first time applicants are asked to apply before the 1st of may. Applications will be answered within a week of submittance.
