Backyardradio at transmediale ’09

Backyardradio will broadcast live from the transmediale.09. Starting on Thursday, January 29th, one-hour live variety shows will host visiting artists, thinkers and festival guests for a bit of serious discussion, analog jams and communication pranks. The broadcast will continue with found sound, collected audio files and extra surprises. Festival guests are invited to tune in with their mobile phones or with good old fashioned fm radios. Radios will be installed in undisclosed locations around the House of World Cultures for your listening pleasure. To hit home with the global and local nature of radio, the programs will be simultaneously rebroadcast on Radia.fm partner radios: Resonance.fm, London; Soundart Radio, Totnes; and Radio Zero, Lisbon. Final releases will be available as podcasts on backyard radio!

The Pop Programme
The Pop Program is an additional acoustic intervention to celebrate the failure of capitalism and really make a point! Helium filled balloons will be presented to TM guests to start a mass public pop in the Aula of HKW. This sound will be broadcast live as it bounces off of the amazing grand hall of the HKW and rebroadcast later on radia.fm partners as well as generate an amazing piece of sound for remixing.
