The Marriage Tree
1993
Mixed Media on paper, wood and glass, various sizes
| The Marriage Tree – on Wassaw Island, Georgia – was so-named by the family who vacationed there in the mid-twentieth century. It consists of a Bay and a Palm fused at the root. It's difficult to discern the individual attributes of each trunk, so entangled are they; but above, the Bay is fully a Bay, the Palm fully a Palm. The Bay is dense and wide while the spare Palm thrusts straight up and through. |
