Resonate - An Interactive Light And Sound Installation :: Opening: September 7, 2012; 7:00 pm :: ZKM_Subspace, Lorenzstraße 19, Karlsruhe, Germany.

The sound persists – the exhibition “Sound Art. Sound as a Medium of Art” continues to draw a large crowd. As of 8 September, a further installation will enrich the exhibition: sound strings, stretched and illuminated, draw in visitors to the ZKM_Subspace; the spatial composition “resonate” allows visitors to experience in a unique way this unity of form, light, and sound.

The installation “resonate” consists of several kilometers of sound strings and eight interactive bodies containing a total of 1600 controllable LED lights. Continue reading

The Center for Book and Paper Arts, a program of the Interdisciplinary Arts Department at Columbia College Chicago, recently received a $50,000 Arts in Media grant from the National Endowment for the Arts in support of a new electronic publishing initiative, Expanded Artists’ Books. This grant will support an award of two $10,000 commissions for new artworks for the iPad. These will have physical counterparts that intersect, modulate, or inform the digital components of the artwork. Continue reading

for the time being explores the sound of movement in a 30-minute premiere of a new stage work inspired by the Russian Futurist opera Victory over the Sun (1913) and its fantastical visual designs. Nearly a hundred years ago, the Futurists collaborated on an eccentric vision of a society to come, based on revolutionary fervor of the time. The DAP-Lab’s choreosonic performance, both comic and unsettling in places, is an intimate piece that looks at our current precarious existence in a world full of outworn clichés of revolutions.
