Discontrol Party is a dispositif which brings together two worlds: that of state-of-the-art surveillance techniques and that of partying. The dancefloor/ live music venue/ performance space will appear in the dual spotlight of a partying event and a data-driven control and surveillance system (computer vision, RFID, recording by smartphones, etc.) The main space of the Gaíté Lyrique becomes for the space of one evening a night-club set up as a control room: far from light effects or other VJing, the participants, while partying, are confronted by multiple visualizations of the information technology system which observes them and seeks to analyze their behavior. Come and play with your mobile phone or join us online. Making live, collaborative streaming video collages/ mixes, you can VJ with your friends remotely and stream the mix back to your phone… with your smartphone, vj with the world!!

There will be two groups live in London and the remote online or mobile participants. The live setting is a party context and the remote group can see what’s going on through the live mixed videos or contribute your own.

MindTouch: Mobile Social VJing

The intention of this project is to contribute to performance technology studies by investigating ‘liveness and presence’ within the context of a specific networked, mobile media performance research project, currently underway, in order to uncover any new understandings that may have emerged from the use of new wireless and mobile technologies.

This project explores ideas of non-verbal transference, telepathic collaboration, and the participant as performer, using biofeedback and mobile phone technology under meta-goals of studying “liveness” within mobile networked environments. Continue reading

A party where future devices of control are put to the test: surveillance cameras, face detection, identification (RFID), traceability. A series of concerts in an interactive setting reacting to its public. A live collective and artistic experience!

Discontrol Party is a device that combines two worlds: the world of highly developed surveillance technologies and the party world. MobileVideoNet: E-art on AIR [nl Hengelo]

E-art on AIR — Interactive Artworks for Mobile Phones offered via SMS:

E-art on Air is MobileVideoNet’s latest exercise in public art and popular culture. For one year, artists, designers and vj’s will create interactive images for mobile phones and handheld media on a monthly base. These animated backgrounds will react to unique characteristics of the media its viewed on, like battery strength, signal reach or the time of day.

The launch of E-art on Air is taking place at the Twente Biennale in Hengelo, 17-20 September 2009. For this event MobileVideoNet’s crew - artists Gerco Lindeboom and Danny Jeroense - created the first two works. During the next year these interactive artworks, and many others, are distributed by our MobileVideoNet SMS Service 2211. Continue reading

A fully interactive event, Plateaux will be spread across Poland’s two adjacent and culturally rich cities of Toruń and Bydgoszcz, combining a number of different venues to create the widest possible range of multimedia and audiovisual performances.

Plateaux is committed to providing an extra depth of experience beyond simple spectatorship. For this reason, artists performing during the festival will also act as guide and teachers in workshops, lectures and discussions, addressing the theoretical, practical and technical aspects of audiovisual domain.
