Open Call for Performances-as-Theories

Theorems, Proofs, Rebuttals, and Propositions: A Conference of Theoretical Theater :: Open Call for Performances-as-Theories — Deadline: August 15, 2012.

Through this Open Call, four performances/theories will be selected by a peer panel. Over the course of three months, the conference organizers will provide space and other resources to these theorizing projects.

Open Call For New Media Performances [us Queens]

Fluid New Media Lab Call for New Media Performances :: Queens Museum of Art, Outpost Artists Resource, Local Project, Thought the Outdoor Art Space, Queens, New York :: Open Call — Deadline: June 21, 2012.

We seek projects including, but not limited to, performance art, public actions and interventions, happenings, and acts, taking place in both real and virtual places. The chosen pieces will be presented as part of our events and exhibitions scheduled for the Fall of 2012 at Queens Museum of Art, Outpost Artists Resource, Local Project, Thought the Outdoor Art Space.

Fluid New Media Lab is a New York City-based project that supports, produces, promotes, and initiates creative works by emerging artists working in new media. Fluid New Media Lab functions as an archive – documenting cutting edge original works – as well as serving as a technical and logistical support and resource for artists and art projects. New Radio and Performing Arts, Inc. is now accepting proposals for its Turbulence.org Commissions Program. Deadline: June 30, 2011. The Application Guidelines are here.

Turbulence is the oldest and most consistent net art commissions site in the world. Now celebrating 15 years it has commissioned, exhibited and archived over 200 works. We are also in the process of archiving the collection at the Rose Goldsen Archive of New Media Art, Cornell University, Ithaca, New York. You can read about the project in Virtueel Platform Research: Archiving the Digital by Annet Dekker and Rachel Somers-Miles.

Rhizome Commissions 2011: Open Call

Rhizome Commissions 2011 :: Open Call — Deadline: April 14, 2011.

This year, Rhizome will commission ten international emerging artists to create original works of new media art, with grant awards ranging from $1,000 to $5000. Projects can can manifest for a variety of contexts, including the web, mobile devices, the gallery or public settings. Grant awards can be applied to any stage of the project.

Two of the commissions will be determined by Rhizome’s membership through an open vote. Continue reading

Open Call for Networked Art: 3 @ $3,000

Turbulence.org and Pace Digital Gallery announce an Open Call for Networked Art to be commissioned for the exhibition Turbulence.org @ PaceDigitalGallery 2.

Three commissions @ $3,000 will be awarded. The deadline for proposals is November 1. The works will premiere at Pace and on Turbulence in April 2011.

The curators are seeking works that address the notion of “Levels | Hierarchies”, as in chains of command, levels of play, stages of life, degrees of comfort... Pace Digital Gallery is, itself, distributed across three floors of a building; within a broad stairwell to be precise. Practitioners are required to address the theme according to both the physical space and the distributed space of the Internet, where the works will permanently reside. Continue reading

Are you a game maker? Are you telling compelling stories about your life or the world around you? Are you doing interesting things through games and interactivity that cannot be done elsewhere?



If you are telling a story, relaying an experience, or interacting with a player in an innovative or novel way we want to see it. Learn to Play is calling for submissions of work for a new museum show built around games as art. Learn to Play will be opening this fall as parallel programming for the 2010 01SJ Biennial.
