Life Online: [Open Source]
Life Online: Call for Proposals — Deadline: July 26, 2011.
The National Media Museum in partnership with FutureEverything is commissioning a new media artwork for inclusion in [Open Source], the first exhibition in the new Life Online temporary exhibition space due to open in March 2012. This exhibition will form a major part of the Museum’s Life Online project which compromises a major new permanent gallery and a new temporary exhibition space which will explore the internet; its history, impact on our lives, and future.
We are seeking an imaginative, ambitious and inspirational artwork that will respond to the exhibition theme of the internet’s open source culture of sharing and collaboration.
UK-based artists are invited to submit proposals that utilise any media, allowing for a creative exploration of the theme of open source culture that offers connections to both the creativity and the collaboration that forms the basis of today’s internet.
We are particularly interested in proposals that investigate the theme through audience participation and interaction, and that may have an online presence beyond the gallery space.
There would be potential for the work to be accessioned into the Museum’s New Media collection.
