Evasion Training Camp for Escapists [pl Warsaw]

[Image: James Kennard; photo by Karen Fraser] Tracing Mobility Warsaw - Evasion Training Camp for Escapists - 2-day workshop by Heath Bunting (UK) & James Kennard (UK) :: July 16-18, 2010 :: The Knot, Praga Północ, Warsaw, Poland.

Following hot on the heels of R8R’s success with Tracing Mobility in the UK, the Nottingham festival broadcasts a call to the faithful next week from Poland, where Radiator joins up with Knotland and begins training recruits for flight and fright.

Bunting and Kennard’s 2 day workshop distills the skills needed for war games or people trafficking into a weekend cocktail of endurance at the fringes of Warsaw’s public spaces. Using only their wits and materials to hand, participants learn to live and travel beyond the reach of the net, skulking in the blind spots of societal control before slipping through the gaping holes left by bureaucratic eddies.

While acquiring weapon and map making skills, those thinking of beginning a life on the run can also pick up important information about how to read a map of one’s social stratification – useful, we imagine, for your defence plea. For those wishing to stay underground longer, establishing a fake identity and travelling for free with forged documents turns out to be child’s play.

Featuring practical demonstrations of ‘the living larder’, ‘river crossing to freedom’ and ‘postal addresses from the edge’, this workshop offers the knowledge for staying mobile to those that rarely make it out of the office.

Workshop Times:
July 17 - 12am to 5pm
July 18 - 12am to 5pm

July 16; 8pm :: Urban Survival — Presentation of artistic projects of Heath Bunting and James Kennard: World class specialists in urban survival will tell about their life philosophy and art of urban survival in the age of ecological catastrophe.

Heath Bunting is the founder of the Irational.org collective, Heath Bunting comes from an activist-artist background, where boundaries between art and socio-political action are blurred. Crediting himself as co-founder of both net.art and sport-art movements, he is banned for life from entering the USA for his anti GM work. His self taught and authentically independent work is direct and uncomplicated. Concerned with issues such as infringements on privacy or restriction of individual freedom, his work demonstrates ways of resistance in an ironic and humorous way. Heath claims he aspires to be a skillful member of the public and is producing an expert system for identity mutation.

James Kennard was born in Aldershot UK in 1984. James Kennard pursues a beautiful life which lifts him from the humanised sphere of implements and expectations and sweeps him to the realm of violence and freedom. He sees his work as “an intervention in the every day… (to) engender the rehabilitation of the human species.” He is currently a force of nature in Bristol UK.
